Exam Overview
The Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) certification is a foundational exam discussing cloud concepts in general and Microsoft Azure in particular.
The exam covers the following topics:
- Compute;
- Networking;
- Storage;
- Azure architecture and services;
- Azure management and governance.
You must pass a 45-minute exam with multiple-choice questions to achieve the certification.
Exam price
The exam price is £64 + tax for the United Kingdom ($99 USD + tax for the United States). The price is based on the country or region in which the exam is proctored. To register for the exam, visit the Microsoft page.
Available resources to prepare for the Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) exam
Only theoretical knowledge is necessary to pass the exam. However, opening the Azure portal and checking the available services will definitely increase your probability of passing it.

Schedule the exam
You can take the exam in person or online. I opted for the online method. The Microsoft exams are provided through Pearson VUE.
Once you pass the exam, the Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) certification does not expire.
